After many years of being against the law to ride on the K Street Mall, the Sacramento City Council voted unanimously to rescind the prohibition.
Near the beginning of the new year, the signs will change to indicate that bicycle traffic is allowable in the center part of K Street Mall (between the yellow tiles) from 13th and 7th Streets. The "tunnel" section between 4th and 2nd Streets will also be open.
Bicyclists will always be required to yield to pedestrians, and not ride on the sidewalks, which, in the case of K Street Mall, is the area between the the building walls and the row of trees.

I'm all for opening more of the city to bikes, but in this case i have to say it's hard to get excited about the right to ride on the most dreadful street in town. Now I can get urine on my bike tires instead of my shoes!
The person that created this post, one of Sac Cycle Chic amazing contributors, is the Bike/Ped Coordinator for the city of Sacramento. I think I will believe him before I believe the Bee.
Of course I believe you... merely pointing out an inconsistency worth noting and now cleared up. Nothing personal, Sac.
Thanks for the clarification, Chris. This is good news all around.
